Chandrashila trek is one of the most well-liked treks in the Garhwal Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The word Chandrashila literally means the `Moon Mountain`. Chandrashila is to be found at an elevation of 3,679 meters.
According to the legend Lord Shiva`s arms are supposed to have emerged here. The shrine of Chandrashila that is a little distance away from Tungnath Temple can be reached by a trek path which is rewarded by the panoramic view of the Himalayas on one side and the valleys of Garhwal on the other. Chandrashila Trek is one of the most well-liked trek trails that can be undertaken throughout the year except during the months of December and January when the region remains subjected to heavy snowfall. Rhododendron forests and alpine expanses stretch throughout the trek route from Tungnath to Chandrashila.
Chandrashila peak is a rock face placed above the temple of Tungnath. It is the highest of all the temples in the Himalayas in terms of site. Chandrashila summit presents the most beautiful view of the Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar Peak and Chaukhamba peaks.

Day Itinerary:-

Chandrashila summit would be our highest point in the trek, giving a vantage point to experience Himalayas in a wide spectrum. One would see the entire range in almost a 270 degrees of visibility, with peaks like Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Nanda devi and Trishul among the most prominent one

  • Day 1

    Rishikesh / Siyal

  • Saur 6-7 hours overnight camp

  • After breakfast drive to Siyal saur.The entire drive today is along the Ganga, Alaknanda, and Mandakini river. We stop at Devparyag,the historical town situated on the banks of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river to see the confluence . We stop at Rudraparyag for lunch. After lunch we drive through the Mandakini valley along the river. Arrive Siyal saur(840mt)and camp. Meals and overnight camp.

  • Day 2

    Siyal Saur / Okhimath / Deoriya Tal

  • 5-6 hours Trek overnight camp

  • Early morning after break fast 1/2hour drive to Okhimath (1370 mts/4500 ft), Okhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath, as well as the winter home of the priest who presides over his worship. After the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, a movable image of Kedarnath is brought in procession to Okhimath, where it resides until the Kedarnath temple reopens in late April or early May. Visit temple and trek to Deoriya tal(2360mt). Initiaiiy the trek goes through the village trail giving you a chance to have a close encounter with the settlement pattern, dress jwellery and life style of mountain people, Latter the trek gose through the thick forest , one the last stretch we come close to the tree line to reach the lake. Enjoy the outstanding view of great Himalayan peaks in the lake, Meals and overnight stay in camp.

  • Day 3

    Deoriya Tal / Chopta

  • 6-7 hours Trek overnight camp - (2700 mts)

  • In the morning enjoy the sun rise and you can see snow clapped Himalayan ranges. After breakfast start your trek to Chopta through dense forest of Rhododendron and lots of wild flowers and ferns. The trek will take 6- 7 hrs to reach Chopta. Upon arrival at Chopta set out the tents for overnight stay. Meals and overnight stay in camp.

  • Day 4

    Chopta / Chandrashila / Chopta

  • 6-7 hours Trek

  • In the morning after breakfast trek to Lord Tungnath. The entire trek is a gradual ascent through the dwarf Rhododendron bushes. One encounters Mt.Chukhamba (A mountain with four pillars) from different angles. Arrive Tungnath (3650mt) the highest Hindu pillgrimise choptatemple in the Himalayas. Those who are fit enough can climb up to Chandrasilla (4200 mt). Arrive Chandrasilla and enjoy the 360 degree of panoramic view of Greater Himalayan peaks as wall as the valley behind. Experience the godly vibrationas and trek back to Chopta. Meals and overnight stay camp.

  • Day 5

    Chopta / Talli / Rishikesh Trek

  • 2 hours drive 7-8 hours

  • After an early breakfast trek down to Talli, The entire trek today goes through the thick forest and chances of encountering rare Himalayan flora are very high Enjoy the rare species of Himalayan birds in the forest. Later drive to Rishikesh, Arrive Rishikesh and tour terminates upon arrival at Rishikesh.
